Gakharia’s Vika Pilpani: Every politician, namely Zourabichvili and UNM, bears responsibility for October 4
“Every person who spent three months calling citizens traitors for deciding to go to the elections bears responsibility for October 4,” stated Vika Pilpani, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party.
According to her, Georgian Dream also bears responsibility for October 4.
“Every politician who called on people to attend this rally and who spent three months bullying people over going to the elections, psychologically pressuring them, parasitising on their emotions, all bear responsibility for October 4. Every person who spent three months calling citizens traitors for deciding to go to the elections bears responsibility for this day. Everyone who spent three months urging people not to vote, threatening that they would be traitors and promising to be waiting for them on Rustaveli on October 4, every participant, from Salome Zourabichvili to the irresponsible leaders of the United National Movement, bears responsibility for what happened on that day. This responsibility also extends to Georgian Dream. Not a single ordinary citizen had come there to storm anything. Bacho Akhalaia was summoned to questioning with great fanfare, whilst they arrest, with the help of Special Task Force, poor doctors, poor young people, and poor citizens who are victims of provocation,” declared Pilpani.
According to Pilpani, the only party that received positive results and benefits from the election outcome and the street protests was Georgian Dream.
“Salome Zourabichvili positions herself as the legitimate president, and when she calls herself the legitimate president and invites citizens to a so-called peaceful overthrow on Rustaveli Avenue on October 4 instead of going to the elections, at the very least, she ought to enquire what the plan is for this peaceful overthrow. Now, when they come out and say we didn’t know of any plan, firstly, why would a peaceful assembly or demonstration need a plan, or why would you need to hide a plan for peacefulness? If they were hiding it, then it follows that they had some plan that wasn’t acceptable to the people. When Ana Tsitlidze was promising USD 200,000 to politicians, she should have used that money to help the detained people who are in unbearable social circumstances and for whom lawyers have yet to appear to this day.
All those who spent so much time calling it Bidzina’s ‘Plan B’ and claiming that those involved were connected to him—well, now we’ve seen who is actually linked to Bidzina and what his so-called ‘Plan B’ truly entails. Who benefited from October 4? The only party that received positive results and benefits from the election outcome and the street protests was Georgian Dream. Did Georgian Dream strengthen its authoritarianism? It did. Was Georgian Dream given the opportunity to imprison more people? It was. Was it given the opportunity to crush months of protest? Of course it was,” declared Pilpani.
