Gakharia’s Sharashidze on Election Day rally organisers: They should take responsibility if they fail to ‘start and finish’ GD on October 4
“We will not be represented at the rally. October 4 is our election day, and we will do everything to safeguard our votes,” stated Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the political council of the Gakharia for Georgia party.
Sharashidze criticised the calls for a peaceful overthrow and the transfer of power, deeming them frivolous and entirely irresponsible on the part of certain political leaders.
“Such calls are primarily aimed at discrediting peaceful protests. We see no responsible leaders among these politicians who are willing to take accountability. I want to appeal to them; if they cannot see this through on October 4, if they truly believe they are strong, then they should step forward and take responsibility themselves. They must acknowledge that, on one hand, they have misled the people, and on the other hand, they have discredited peaceful protests, sown nihilism, and deepened the disappointment among the Georgian population. Of course, the responsibility for this rests with the opposition leaders who make these statements,” Sharashidze pointed out.
According to Sharashidze, the country does not need radicalisation or civil conflict.
“Discussing such scenarios and intimidating people with the threat of unrest is a tactic employed by the Georgian Dream, if anyone is truly interested. The Georgian Dream is well aware that the majority of the population desires peace, while also seeking significant political change. Both objectives are achievable and should be realised through peaceful means. If someone only envisions violent, radical alternatives, they are merely indulging in a Georgian Dream. The real question is: why are they doing this? Do they not know or understand, or are they merely playing the role of useful idiots? I call on these politicians to take responsibility for their actions. Do they even know who is organising this rally? In other words, is this just a grand spectacle for the Rustaveli Avenue movement?” Sharashidze concluded.
