Gakharia party insists its members' letters to parliament are purely procedural, political boycott continues

“The Gakharia-For Georgia party remains in parliamentary boycott mode,” the party member Ana Buchukuri has stated.

In an interview with GPB First Channel, Buchukuri explained the nature of the letters sent to parliament by eight party members.

According to her, the letters from the eight party members are procedural in nature, obligations they were required to fulfil under parliamentary regulations.

“We remain in a political boycott; nothing has changed regarding the use of mandates. Addressing parliament is a procedural matter, which we went through some time ago, 6-7 months back, when declarations were also completed. We remain in a political boycott. Some needed to send letters, others didn’t; this is a procedural matter. You can see the content of each letter. Some had obligations to make contact due to certain circumstances, others didn’t; it was the same before. We definitely remain in a political boycott,” Buchukuri declared.

According to available information, eight members of Giorgi Gakharia’s party may end their political boycott and enter Parliament, though the party itself has not officially confirmed this.
