Gabrielius Landsbergis calls for issuing embargo on exports of equipment government uses against citizens
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis calls for issuing a European embargo on exports of equipment and weapons that the government uses against citizens.
“When protestors were brutally beaten in Belarus, there was a European embargo on exports of equipment used for committing the abuses. We can, and should, do the same for Georgia, as soon as possible,” he wrote on the X Platform.
“In 2010, when the Belarusian government cracked down on protests in Minsk, there was issued embargo on all the equipment and weapons that the government uses against its citizens. I think we really need to start thinking about the same thing when the government is using Western equipment against its people, why are they still exporting it,” he said in his video address.
