Frontera former employees rally in Dedoplistskaro

Former employees of Frontera Eastern Georgia, a company working on exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, held a protest rally in Dedoplitskaro, Kakheti region of Georgia.

Protesters object to withdrawing extracted oil from the tank farm territory until Frontera pays financial commitments to employees.

“The company promised to pay out salaries, but it lied,” Levan Lapiashvili, one of the employees, said.

Frontera Georgian manager Giorgi Janiashvili said that the company management is ready to meet with the former employees to resolve the controversy.

The government won the dispute against Frontera at the International Court of Arbitration. The company has to pay the 11-month wage arrears to 84 employees in the total amount of approximately 1 million GEL. Former employees appealed to the court in 2020. However, the lawsuit has not been considered.
