French Ambassador hopes agreement to be reached between ruling party and opposition

French Ambassador to Georgia Diego Colas hopes that an agreement will be reached between the ruling Georgian Dream party and the opposition.

“It is good that people, who want welfare of the country managed to sit together and they will find the outcome to agree on a way forward,” Diego Colas said.

According to the French Ambassador, the visit of the European Council President Charles Michel to Georgia was beneficial. It proved that Europe cares about Georgia and supports the country’s democratic development.

“The mediation process is underway. Political parties managed to sit together and present proposals. All parties confirm their readiness to work on compromises. I hope that the presented proposals and the ways out will unite many ideas and those people who want the best for the country will find the outcome to move forward.

There are many challenges in the world and Georgia really needs to invest all its energy to overcome these challenges. We are ready to support Georgia on this path. It is important to join forces,” said Diego Colas.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and opposition politicians held negotiations at the presidential palace mediated by European Council President Charles Michel on March 1.
