Freedom Square Movement commits to resistance until common goal is achieved
“Freedom Square is committed to resistance and its members will join the October 4 large-scale public rally,” the movement’s chair, Levan Tsutskiridze, announced.
According to Tsuskiridze, the Georgian Dream party’s irresponsible and anti-state policies have led the country into a deep political crisis, pitting the government against its people and Georgia’s national interests. This has jeopardised the country’s European future, while corruption and a deteriorating economic and social situation have only worsened the overall situation.
Levan Tsutskiridze called on law enforcement agencies to protect the people and defend the Constitution, rather than “remaining loyal to corrupt politicians.”
He also urged the Georgian Dream to make the only “rational decision to discharge the political crisis” by releasing the regime’s prisoners and appointing new parliamentary elections.
“We believe that the country must have a democratic government and the power should be in the hands of the people. The Georgian Dream seized this power and intends to hold on to it indefinitely. Power should return to the people. They have created the current situation. We have not taken the steps they took. We did not physically assault journalists and students in Tbilisi streets or award the assailants with Orders of Honour,” he said.
