Former SSG Deputy Head found guilty

The Tbilisi City Court on Tuesday sentenced the former deputy head of the State Security Service (SSG), Soso Gogashvili, to five years in prison.

According to the prosecutor, the court found the former high-ranking official guilty of all five charges.

“There was a lot of evidence, and it was determined that he committed the crime,” he claimed.

The lawyer called the sentence unfair, planning to appeal it.

The former deputy head of SSG was arrested on July 16 and charged with several crimes, including deliberate disclosure of state secrets, illegal obtaining and storing of personal data, exceeding official authority that resulted in a significant violation of the state’s legal interests, illegal acquisition, storage, and distribution of personal data, and the unlawful possession of firearms.
