PM nominee Kobakhidze: Making Georgia artificial target of Russia to be distressing

“It is notably disturbing when certain representatives of the Ukrainian side try to make Georgia an artificial target of Russia,” said PM nominee Irakli Kobakhidze.

Irakli Kobakhidze went on to say that some experts, activists and non-governmental organizations supported Georgia’s turning into a second (war) front.

“These people cannot hide their evil intentions towards our state. They wanted a second front. They wanted to develop grave scenarios in Georgia. All these, of course, are another expression of that,” he said.

According to the Prime Ministerial candidate, everything needs clarification.

“When someone tries, inside or outside the country, to make Georgia a target of Russian aggression, it is a very serious event, and it is disturbing. This confirms once again what the senior officials of the Ukrainian government openly say in principle that they wanted and probably still want a second front in our country. Such facts, which we saw, and which the SSG revealed, are another confirmation of all these,” he said.

On February 5, the State Security Service’s counter-terrorist centre, through operational and investigative activities, successfully seized several units of special explosive devices and a significant quantity of explosives. The SSG said the explosives were transported from Ukraine by the Ukrainian citizen of Georgian origin, Andrei Sharashidze, and were designated to travel to Voronezh, the Russian Federation.
