Former NBG president: No vandalism observed so far, but further developments unpredictable if transparency bill is approved

“there have been gatherings of many thousands, and there have been no incidents of vandalism, but if they intend to pass the law in the second or third reading, our protest will intensify. Accordingly, no one knows what will happen next,” said Giorgi Kadagidze, former president of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

According to Kadagidze, the Georgian Dream will bear full responsibility for the developments.

“There was a play of muscles and a pretend demonstration of strength. We must oppose this with unity, calmness, and firmness, but at the same time, rigidity and do everything to prevent this law from being passed today, and then, what is most important, to safely remove the Georgian Dream from one-party rule. GD constantly tries to test our patience. No matter how many thousands of people come out, they are constantly trying to test their patience. Until now, we have consistently maintained that these demonstrations are extremely peaceful, as befits the European people. For so many days, there have been gatherings of many thousands, and there have been no incidents of vandalism, but if they intend to pass the law in the second or third reading and so on, our protest will intensify. Accordingly, no one knows what will happen next, and full responsibility for the developed events will fall on the Georgian Dream and Bidzina Ivanishvili”, said Giorgi Kadagidze.
