“I believe in Georgia’s European path. I have supported it for many years, and I will continue to stand by your country’s side in the future,” said former European Commissioner for Migration, Dimitris Avramopoulos, in an interview with GPB First Channel in Greece, during the Delphi Economic Forum.

According to Avramopoulos, “Georgia is undeniably a European country, and this is a simple, undeniable fact.”

“When I contributed to granting visa-free travel to Georgia, I remember being in Tbilisi and witnessing something I had never seen anywhere else, more European flags on the streets than in any other capital. Although I no longer work for the European Union, my support for Georgia remains unwavering. The country deserves a European future, and I am confident it will achieve it. We must think long-term, historically, rather than short-term. One day, this will be realised. I love your country, and I look forward to returning to Georgia once again,” he added.
