For Georgia’s Sharashidze expects EC report to be critical, regarded by GD as attack against Georgia
“We do not have promising expectations due to the Georgian Dream’s crimes,” said Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, about the upcoming enlargement report on Georgia to be published by the European Commission.
According to Giorgi Sharashidze, the GD government renounced Georgia’s European future.
“It is understandable when our European partners speak about democracy backsliding in Georgia. I am convinced that the EC report will be critical, but it will be assessed as yet another hostile attitude and attack against the country by the Georgian Dream, in its usual practice. We will explain to Georgian people that if European partners want something, it is democracy, human rights and the supremacy of law in Georgia,” he said.
Giorgi Sharashidze remarked that visa-free travel is the achievement of the Georgian people and no one else.
“This privilege belongs to the Georgian people only. The visa-free regime should stand. Our political force will do its best to preserve it for the Georgian people. As for democracy backsliding, I believe everyone agrees that this criticism is grounded, fair and objective,” he said.
