For Georgia's Khvedeliani condemns "farce" in Chorchana checkpoint case

“We are witnessing an investigative farce surrounding the Chorchana checkpoint, orchestrated by Bidzina Ivanishvili, which is damaging Georgia’s national interests. Every day brings new shows,” stated Tata Khvedeliani, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party.

She criticised the Prime Minister, describing him as “overly disconnected—someone who has never even visited the occupation line” yet openly discusses the Chorchana issue, undermining the country’s sovereignty and serving occupiers’ interests.

“Every day, we see performances that threaten our national interests. I don’t know why they’re summoning former Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani—perhaps to discuss Chorchana, or maybe other issues. We’ll find out once he responds. Yesterday, the so-called Prime Minister, who has never been to the occupation line, brought Gavrilov to Georgia and seated him as the parliament’s chair in our historic building, now he’s speakering live on air about Chorchana, harming Georgia’s interests, and acting as an implementer of occupiers’ policies,” Khvedeliani said.

According to Tata Khvedeliani, Georgian Dream is prepared to implement its plan—even at the expense of the country’s interests—which Bidzina Ivanishvili announced four days before the elections and has since continued with his attack on Giorgi Gakharia.

“The most crucial issue is the actions taken by Giorgi Gakharia regarding the checkpoint. First and foremost, those steps served Georgia’s national interests. We observe that the individuals interviewed and part of the investigative commission were not residents of Chorchana. Every statement and every step taken appears to undermine our country. Georgian Dream is ready to pursue its own agenda, regardless of the harm it causes to national interests—an agenda Ivanishvili revealed on Imedi TV four days before the elections and has continued to push through attacks on Gakharia. This creates a chain reaction, ultimately amounting to a political act of revenge, announced and unfolding in the aftermath of the elections,” stated Tata Khvedeliani.
