For Georgia: Gakharia ready to speak remotely at Commission session on July 2 regarding Chorchana case

Giorgi Gakharia is ready to speak remotely at the Investigative Commission session on July 2 regarding the Chorchana case, Berdia Sichinava, Executive Secretary of the Gakharia for Georgia party stated.

Sichinava said that Gakharia and his team are proud of their actions in Chorchana, describing them as peaceful efforts to defend Georgian territory, stop creeping occupation, and resist separatist territorial claims.

“The “Dream” regime is preparing a politically motivated case against Giorgi Gakharia, targeting him for peacefully defending Georgia’s land in Chorchana, halting the creeping occupation, and preventing further territorial claims by separatists. The case envisions up to 15 years of imprisonment—an act that would constitute a grave crime against Georgia’s national interests, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Those involved will inevitably bear both legal and historical responsibility.
It is now evident that both the separatist regime and “Dream” are speaking the same language on Chorchana. Just as “Bibilov” described Chorchana as a painful obstacle for the separatists, “Dream” now seems to echo that view—suggesting they may be receiving directives from the same “deep state.”

Giorgi Gakharia has already appeared before the commission and spoken about Chorchana. He has since repeatedly expressed willingness to participate remotely in further sessions, as allowed by the commission’s rules. In fact, he received such an offer during the first invitation. Yet, in a first for its own proceedings, the so-called commission has refused to hear him—while granting others the opportunity to speak.

This avoidance by “Dream” signals fear and political desperation. They are clearly reluctant to discuss Chorchana publicly, knowing it would expose who is truly betraying Georgia’s national interests and territorial integrity.
Today’s decision confirms that the commission has no intention of listening to Gakharia on the Chorchana issue. Nonetheless, we reaffirm our readiness to participate remotely on July 2. Giorgi Gakharia and our team are proud of our actions in Chorchana. This is not merely a political vendetta—it is a serious crime against the state’s national interests.

No matter how much time passes, we pledge to the public that an investigative commission will be created to examine the current commission’s actions. No one—neither a commission, nor a false witness, nor a law enforcement officer—will be able to escape responsibility for the “Chorchana” case,” Sichinava declared.

Giorgi Gakharia has been summoned again to the Parliamentary Investigative Commission session on July 2. He was previously expected to appear on June 23, after being summoned again on June 16.

On June 22, the Gakharia for Georgia party announced that Gakharia is currently outside the country and has offered to testify remotely. However, the commission rejected this request.
