FM views UNESCO Conference as excellent platform to present Georgian cultural heritage

“Uzbekistan is hosting the UNESCO General Conference with the participation of the organization’s member states, which convened to discuss cooperation over cultural heritage, education, and other important issues,” said Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.

According to the FM, Georgia’s cultural heritage should be properly presented.

“UNESCO Conference is an important platform for Georgia due to our cultural heritage, which is recognized as UNESCO heritage. It is the cultural heritage, which is an asset for Georgia and which should be properly presented.

For the first time, the UNESCO Conference is held outside its headquarters and this time, Samarkand is hosting it. It was an excellent opportunity for us to provide detailed information to the international and Uzbekistani communities about Georgia’s cultural heritage.

Within the framework of the conference, Georgian Culture Days will be held, where UNESCO non-material heritage from Georgia – Georgian songs, wine and main aspects of our country’s culture will be showcased for several days,” she said.

Maka Botchorishvili remarked that the Georgian corner will be organized in collaboration with the Culture Ministry and National Wine Agency.

Georgian FM Maka Botchorishvili participates in the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. She will address the conference and hold meetings with her colleague ministers and UNESCO officials.
