FM: Uzbekistan and Georgia plan to further strengthen economic ties
“Relations between Uzbekistan and Georgia are progressing strongly, and we have significant plans to deepen and enrich economic cooperation between our countries,” stated Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili to journalists.
The Foreign Minister also noted that the opening of an Uzbek embassy in Georgia is scheduled for the near future. This will be an important milestone in bilateral relations.
“I will be engaging in meetings with my colleagues during the conference. I have already held a productive discussion with my Uzbek counterpart. Recently, the relationship between Uzbekistan and Georgia has been developing with particularly positive momentum. This is particularly important in the context of the development of the Middle Corridor. We exchanged important views on various issues, including economic cooperation and connectivity, exploring how we can further develop our partnership.
The planned opening of the Uzbek embassy in Georgia will be a significant step forward for our relations. We have bold plans to strengthen and deepen our economic ties. Uzbekistan’s role in Central Asia is crucial, just as Georgia’s position in the South Caucasus is vital for Uzbekistan. Both nations possess considerable potential in the development of the Middle Corridor, and future cooperation on this front will be a key focus,” Botchorishvili explained.
The 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference is currently underway in Samarkand, with over 3,000 delegates representing the organisation’s 194 member states and 12 associate countries. The Georgian delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is among those participating in this event.
