FM: PACE debates aim to shape opposition’s political agenda ahead of Georgia’s elections
“Today’s debates at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe are aimed at shaping a political agenda for the opposition, just two days before Georgia’s elections,” stated Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
The minister expressed concern that the critical remarks made during these debates are deliberately designed to foster a negative narrative against the Georgian government on the international stage.
“Today’s debate within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is essentially being used to craft an opposition political agenda targeting Georgia, despite the elections taking place in just two days. Their purpose appears to be to create space for further negative framing against the Georgian government.
The critical statements anticipated during these debates are clearly orchestrated and premeditated. Such tactics are, of course, unjust towards the country where the elections are imminent. Their real aim is to influence the international perception of Georgia in a negative light ahead of the vote,” Botchorishvili explained.
