“Georgia desires a relationship with the United States that is truly meaningful and grounded in mutual respect—an approach that serves the interests of both countries and is genuinely attainable under the Trump administration,” stated Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
She emphasized that Georgia aims for relations with the United States to be substantive and mutually beneficial.
Botchorishvili also highlighted that the new Georgian ambassador to the United States will follow Georgia’s national interests. The government expects that the U.S.’s approach towards Georgia will be case-specific and focused.
“Relations with the United States are of vital importance for Georgia. Currently, these relations are not entirely satisfactory. Our message remains clear: Georgia seeks a meaningful partnership rooted in mutual respect. We believe this is entirely possible today under the Trump administration. Especially, as we have the opportunity to appoint a new ambassador who will represent Georgia’s interests and engage in activities aligned with our national priorities. We also hope that the U.S.’s attitude towards Georgia will be case-oriented, opening the way for us to strengthen our relations for the benefit of both nations,” Botchorishvili stated.
