FM: Georgia proposed its candidacy for OSCE chairmanship; support from participating states is crucial for future collaboration
According to Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, Georgia has formally put forward its candidature for the chairmanship of the OSCE for the upcoming year. The decision on the appointment will require the unanimous approval of all OSCE participating states.
Botchorishvili underscored the importance of support from the participating countries for Georgia’s bid.
“Georgia has already formally submitted its application, offering to assume the OSCE chairmanship next year. Naturally, this decision must be taken unanimously by the member countries, with all supporting the candidature. It is still early days, and we will see how the process unfolds; it is too soon to determine the level of support Georgia’s bid will receive. However, it will be very important for our future work if the participating countries endorse Georgia’s candidature. As a nation actively engaged in all areas of OSCE work, be it security challenges, fostering connectivity and economic development, or sharing our experiences in human rights, such support would be of great significance,” Botchorishvili stated.
