FM congratulates Georgia on EC’s positive recommendation 

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili congratulated Georgia on the European Commission’s positive recommendation on granting candidate status to the country.

“Congratulations, Georgia! The European Commission has released a positive recommendation on granting our country candidate status. This is a clear recognition of the very intensive work done by Georgia on this important path. Together, we have showcased our strength, unity and commitment to European values. Looking forward to the final decision in December,” he tweeted.

The European Commission (EC) will recommend the European Council to grant candidate status to Georgia, said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, at the briefing jointly held with Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.

The European Council will make the final decision in December.
