FM Botchorishvili sees nothing new in Estonian politicians' attacks on Georgian government

“Attacks from Estonian politicians directed at Georgia and the Georgian government are no longer new,” Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili told journalists in Dubai.

According to Botchorishvili, their stated positions are entirely at odds with the friendly relations between the two countries, which should be grounded in international norms and standards.

“Too often, we encounter statements that can be viewed as direct interference in our internal affairs. These remarks aim to undermine Georgia’s international image, and, unfortunately, this comes from our Baltic friends,” stated Maka Botchorishvili.

Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated during his annual foreign policy speech in the Estonian Parliament that “Georgia will not join the European Union on its present course,” and “if the authorities continue to use violence, we are ready to continue tightening sanctions, including revoking visa-free travel.”
