FM Botchorishvili delivers lecture at Hungarian Diplomatic Academy

During her visit to Hungary, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili delivered a public lecture at the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy, where she introduced young Hungarian diplomats to Georgia’s foreign policy priorities and answered their questions.

According to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Botchorishvili’s speech covered the challenges and opportunities Georgia has faced since regaining its independence. She addressed sovereignty and territorial integrity issues, Georgia’s integration into the European Union, economic development, and collaboration with Hungary.

The Minister emphasized that EU membership is a central priority for Georgia, which has openly pursued its European aspirations since independence. She highlighted the significant progress made in recent years regarding European integration, noting that many challenges in EU-Georgia cooperation can only be overcome through open dialogue.

Botchorishvili also discussed Georgia’s economic development, pointing out its favourable ratings for business and low corruption levels. She explained that the free trade authority and double-digit economic growth in recent years have positioned Georgia as an attractive partner, creating new opportunities for economic collaboration with various nations.

Additionally, the Minister mentioned that Georgia is engaged in numerous projects beneficial to the region, leveraging its geographical position to foster connectivity initiatives. Botchorishvili asserted that Georgia can contribute to the European Union and enhance broader European security.

Georgia’s Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Hungary’s support, emphasizing gratitude for the assistance received. She announced plans for an upcoming intergovernmental meeting between the two countries, which will provide an excellent opportunity to discuss various areas of collaboration.
