FM Botchorishvili appraises meetings conducted during UNESCO Conference
During the UNESCO General Conference, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili held fruitful discussions with the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Hungary.
Following her meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Botchorishvili emphasised that Azerbaijan remains a strategic partner for Georgia. She highlighted that bilateral relations are dynamic and that ongoing dialogue is essential.
“It is, of course, vital to maintain continuous exchanges on key issues concerning the political and economic ties between our countries. We have outlined future initiatives to enhance the utilisation of Georgia and Azerbaijan within the development of the Middle Corridor. Work is progressing on specific projects, and in this regard, high-level political dialogue between our Foreign Ministers is of great importance. There are other significant matters, including upcoming high-level visits and opportunities for cooperation across various sectors, which are consistently under discussion. Overall, our strategic partnership holds immense significance not only for Georgia and Azerbaijan but also in the broader context of regional development and cooperation,” Botchorishvili stated.
Furthermore, in her assessment of the meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, Botchorishvili emphasised Hungary’s support for Georgia’s European Union integration and underscored the importance of ongoing political dialogue on this issue.
“The relationship that has developed between Hungary and Georgia in recent years is both close and vital, not only in terms of bilateral relations but also within the wider framework of our engagement with the European Union. As you are aware, Hungary is an unequivocal supporter of Georgia’s EU accession and actively advocates for Georgia’s inclusion in EU discussions. The intensity of our political dialogue and the regular exchange of views on key issues, including relations with the EU, which is of paramount importance for Georgia, are incredibly valuable. It provides an excellent opportunity to discuss future steps, address existing challenges, and further strengthen the bonds between our nations,” Botchorishvili concluded.
