FM Bayramov: Azerbaijan-Georgia projects have global importance, benefit extends beyond local geography

“Today we had the opportunity to discuss the first results of 2024-2025 in the economic direction, as well as the indicators for the first five months of 2025, which have already exceeded 330 million, which is up to 20% more compared to the corresponding period last year,” declared Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at a joint briefing with his Georgian counterpart Maka Botchorishvili.

According to him, this momentum would continue until the end of the year.

“Today we had the opportunity to discuss various directions, both in the economic sphere and the importance of the intergovernmental economic commission’s work, led by the prime ministers of both countries. We discussed the first results of 2024-2025 in the economic direction, as well as the indicators for the first five months of 2025, which have already exceeded 330 million, which is up to 20% more compared to the corresponding period last year. We are confident this dynamic will continue until the end of the year.

In general, the Republic of Azerbaijan is very active in Georgia’s economy, both at the state level and through companies. Azerbaijan is a major investor in Georgia, and over the years, Azerbaijan has invested 3.6 billion dollars in Georgia’s economy. Madam Minister also emphasised that the large-scale projects undertaken with the participation of our countries make a highly significant contribution to their welfare. Furthermore, the impact and benefits of these projects extend far beyond our borders, reaching a much broader region and holding global importance.

I would mention several projects: the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan project, the Southern Gas Corridor, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project and others. These projects are the result of our successful cooperation, which has been ongoing for years and will continue for decades,” declared the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister.

According to him, cooperation between the two countries should not be limited to these projects and this direction.

“Several projects with Azerbaijan and Georgia’s participation are currently underway. Important in the alternative energy direction project is the delivery of green resources from Azerbaijan through Georgian territory, also through the Black Sea, to the European market. Within this project’s framework, Georgia and Azerbaijan are collaborating with several European countries, as well as Turkiye, and the project is progressing successfully.

Last November, during COP29, several allies and Central Asian countries, namely Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, expressed their interest in participating in the project by leveraging their renewable energy potential. Appropriate steps have already been initiated, and we believe this will lead to very positive outcomes,” stated Jeyhun Bayramov.
