First Lady of Georgia presents icon of St. George to Queen Tamar church in Washington

During her visit to Washington, the First Lady of Georgia, Tamar Bagrationi, attended the Queen Tamar Georgian Church, where she donated an icon of St. George.

Members of the Georgian delegation also participated in the funeral service for His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, conducted in Washington by the head of the church, Father Pavle Zakaria.

“I visited the Queen Tamar Church in Washington, where Father Pavle held a funeral service for the soul of our Patriarch. I met with the parishioners, devoted, loving Georgians. I intended to present the icon of St. George, a symbol of victory, to the church. I wish all Georgians, whether abroad or at home, victory and progress. May God be our protector,” said Tamar Bagrationi.

The First Lady is in Washington at the invitation of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump. The delegation also includes Baia Kvitsiani, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, and Mariam Lashkhi, Chairwoman of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs.
