First Ladies of Georgia and Azerbaijan visit Mirza Fatali Akhundov Museum of Azerbaijani culture

First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva recently visited the Mirza Fatali Akhundov Museum of Azerbaijani Culture.

The press service of the Presidential Administration has announced that accompanying her were the First Lady of Georgia, Tamar Bagrationi, Georgia’s Minister of Culture, Tinatin Rukhadze, her deputy Giorgi Mirtskhulava, and Leyla Aliyeva, Director of the Mirza Fatali Akhundov Museum.

The visitors were briefed on the history of the museum, exploring its exhibition spaces and the Akhundov Cultural Centre, where a variety of cultural events, meetings, and exhibitions are regularly held.

Founded in 1982 to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the renowned Azerbaijani playwright, public figure, and writer Mirza Akhundov, the museum is situated in the very building where he once lived. Mirza Akhundov’s work has strong connections with Georgia, and the museum itself serves as a cultural bridge between Azerbaijan and Georgia.
