Finnish Foreign Minister: Finland condemns the recent illegal installation of artificial barriers in Atotsi village
Finland condemns the recent illegal installation of artificial barriers in Kareli municipality and elsewhere in the Georgian territory, – Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland Timo Soini stated at a press conference with Georgian Minister for Foreign Affairs David Zalkalian in Helsinki on November 12.
This year sadly marks the tenth anniversary of the Georgian-Russia war. I want to express Finland´s unwavering solidarity with Georgia. Georgia and the Georgian people have our full support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of your country. Finland condemns the recent illegal installation of artificial barriers in Kareli municipality and elsewhere in the Georgian territory” – Timo Soini said.
The Finnish Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of EU monitoring mission on the spot and Finland’s involvement in this regard. According to him, Georgia’s problems remain active in the EU agenda and the EU is united in supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“It should be noted that in recent years Georgia has made great progress in its internal reforms and I urge you to continue these processes,”- Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland added.
Georgian Minister for Foreign Affairs David Zalkalian thanked Finland for its firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and emphasized the open support expressed by the Finnish Foreign Minister on the 10th anniversary of Russia-Georgia.
