Finance Minister holds bilateral meeting with World Bank Managing Director
During the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili engaged in discussions with Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of the World Bank.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the World Bank and Georgia.
Minister Khutsishvili outlined key developments in the Georgian economy, including macroeconomic and fiscal indicators, ongoing and planned structural reforms, investment initiatives, and priority sectors. The dialogue also encompassed global economic trends amidst current geopolitical challenges.
The World Bank Managing Director highlighted Georgia’s impressive economic growth as a testament to the country’s resilience and its ability to build appropriate buffers. She reaffirmed the World Bank’s unwavering commitment to supporting infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on strengthening regional connectivity and advancing the development of the Middle Corridor.
Attending the meeting were Antonella Bassani, Vice President for Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank; Eugene Rhuggenaath, World Bank Executive Director; Roland Price, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus; alongside Georgian officials, including Deputy Ministers of Finance Giorgi Kakauridze and Ekaterine Guntsadze, Georgian Ambassador to the United States Tamar Taliashvili, and Irakli Kacharava, Head of the Public Debt Management Department at the Ministry of Finance.
