Film director Eldar Shengelaia laid to rest at Didube Pantheon

Film director Eldar Shengelaia has been buried at the Didube Pantheon.

The director was laid to rest alongside his parents – Nato Vachnadze and Nikoloz Shengelaia – and his brother, Giorgi Shengelaia.

Eldar Shengelaia’s civil funeral service took place at Sioni Cathedral starting this morning.

The director’s family members received condolences from Georgia’s President, Prime Minister, Parliament Speaker, Tbilisi Mayor, and members of the government and parliament.

Today, Eldar Shengelaia’s family also received condolences from Georgian Dream party’s Honorary Chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili, accompanied by his wife Ekaterine Khvedelidze.

Eldar Shengelaia passed away on August 4 at the age of 92.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
