Excessive amount of Nitrates discovered in samples of melon in Batumi and Kutaisi

Excessive amount of Nitrates have been discovered in samples of melon sold in Batumi and Kutaisi out of those fruits and vegetables tested — Food National Agency reports.

The agency took 60 samples of fruits and vegetables across Georgia to test them against Nitrates.

In one case the amount of nitrates reached 480 mg/kg – in the second case – 212 mg/kg. The norm is 90 mg/kg.

The agency informed the business operators about test results and demanded withdrawal of the products from the market. The agency has already tested 40 samples.
