The First Channel of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) has addressed the information circulating in the media and on social networks regarding the live concert of the Song Academy on June 9, during which a minor participant fainted.
For the GPB First Channel, the most important value is the well-being of people, especially children. The broadcaster has extensive experience in implementing children’s projects and follows clear safety standards and established response procedures for these projects.
We want to clarify that the video circulating on social media and later shared by various media outlets does not represent footage that was broadcast live by the First Channel. The video in question was recorded by one of the parents present in the studio, who, along with other parents, attended the live broadcast of the program.
A review of the footage that was broadcast by the First Channel, as well as recordings from the surveillance cameras installed in the studio, has confirmed that the GPB First Channel employees present in the pavilion were unable to observe the incident. If they had been aware, appropriate response measures would have been taken immediately, including the possibility of interrupting the live broadcast.
The GPB First Channel has communicated with both the parents of the minor and the management of the Song Academy. For us, no television or radio broadcast is more important than the health and safety of a child. Consequently, upon becoming aware of any such incident, the broadcaster acts in accordance with relevant protocols, always prioritizing the best interests of the child.
