Foreign national arrested in Batumi after police seize 24 packages of methadone prepped for distribution
Officers from the Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have arrested a foreign national on charges of illegal purchase, possession, and facilitating the sale of particularly large quantities of narcotics.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement personnel conducted searches of the suspect’s person and temporary residence in Batumi, seizing 24 pre-packaged wraps containing an exceptionally large quantity of methadone prepared for street distribution as material evidence.
Police also confiscated specialised packaging materials used for distributing narcotics.
An investigation is underway under Article 260 and Article 260⁴ of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment upon conviction.
