Ex-President Saakashvili: In 2008, many urged me to flee, but I stayed with army to defend our statehood
“The task of the internationally sanctioned treason commission was also to complete the operation of my destruction, after they inflicted thousands of disgusting acts on me for many years, tortured me in prison and poisoned me,” former President Mikheil Saakashvili wrote on social media.
According to him, in 2008, many urged him to flee the country and go into exile under the threat of death. However, he mobilised both Georgian and international society, and together with the country’s soldiers, he safeguarded Georgian statehood.
“Ivanishvili fulfils his promises to the end, but not those given to the Georgian people, but to his own Russian masters, who gave him 2.5 billion dollars in 2012 and brought him to power as a result of a hybrid special operation.
The main provisions of the conclusion of this treason ‘commission,’ every word of which is a filthy lie, are directly crafted in ‘Lubyanka,’ and its task is to blame Georgia, which was the victim of aggression, for the 2008 Russian aggression.
The goal of this new special operation is far-reaching: they aim to erase the historical memory of the Georgian people, tarnish the proud legacy of the Rose Revolution, and undermine Georgia’s remarkable achievements over those nine years, which were recognised and celebrated worldwide. Ultimately, their objective is to crush the Georgian people’s love of freedom.
This ‘commission’ created by the illegitimate parliament is a manifestation of dark past revanchism. The commission includes Ilia Injia, son of Fridon Injia, a mega-corruptionist of the Shevardnadze era, whom our investigative commission in the 90s parliament, where I was also present, removed from the ministry. Ivanishvili appointed Tsulukiani as head of the commission, while I was the one to end her father’s executioner activities by introducing the Law on the Final Prohibition of the Death Penalty in Georgia in parliament.
The mummies of the past have returned and are dismantling the Georgian state. In 2012, Ivanishvili replaced our government, which had defeated crime and corruption. He took Georgia off the path of flourishing and instead made crime and corruption flourish.
The task of the internationally sanctioned treason commission was also to complete the operation of my destruction, after they inflicted thousands of disgusting acts on me for many years, tortured me in prison and poisoned me. They operate with terrorist methods, having imprisoned almost every political leader.
They are particularly embittered by the fact that, despite my isolation, when they first muted my voice in the courtroom and then completely banned coverage, support for me continues to grow even more, especially against the background of the disgusting acts committed by the criminal syndicate.
As a longtime central figure in Ukrainian politics and a proud Ukrainian citizen, I believe that the recent hysterical attack against me is also a message from the Russians to Ukraine’s leader, a warning for him of the fate that awaits him if he does not surrender to the occupier.
In 2008, many urged me to leave Georgia and go into emigration under threat of death. I did not budge. I mobilised Georgian and international society and, together with our soldiers, we saved Georgian statehood.
Now too, we stand firm; nothing will break us. We will not allow the enemy to seize our country, as demonstrated by the unwavering resistance of the Georgian people. Especially in recent years and months, countless people have been arrested, tortured and still not broken. Therefore, with decisive, bold steps, with unity and a solid plan, we must bring this struggle to victory soon. We must free our homeland from the hands of the occupier and his hirelings and save our children’s future.
Glory to Georgia! Glory to freedom! Слава Україні!” wrote Mikheil Saakashvili.
