“Many individuals who did not attend the Gen Z rallies nevertheless came to the People’s Assembly, and these people deserve our heartfelt gratitude for their courage. However, Gen Z, who is arguably the most capable of leading the fight, was less represented. This indicates that we did not work hard enough,” jailed former President Mikheil Saakashvili posted on social media.
As Saakashvili claims, now is the time to urgently address these gaps.
“Ivanishvili and his allies are angry about October 4 because it was the People’s Assembly that managed to secure a boycott of the elections. Of course, attempting to replicate the Rose Revolution was a mistake, just as it is misguided for generals to fight a previous war’s scenario. Moreover, the Rose Revolution was meticulously planned over several years. As one of the organisers of that revolution, I declare that copying it exactly will not work. Many developments will unfold spontaneously, but even this spontaneity requires preparation.
Many people who did not attend the Gen Z rallies came to the People’s Assembly, and they deserve great gratitude for their bravery. However, Gen Z, who is most capable of leading the fight, was less represented. This shows that we did not work hard enough on social networks, nor did we fully articulate our goals. Now, we must urgently fill these gaps, because time is short.
The victory will belong to the Georgian people!” writes Mikheil Saakashvili.
