Ex-president Saakashvili claims CoE Secretaries General typically are corrupt toward dictators
Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili posted on social media that it is quite common for the Secretaries General of the Council of Europe to be corrupt in their dealings with dictators.
Saakashvili noted that the last time a Secretary General of the Council of Europe visited Georgia was in 2004.
“The last visit by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe to Georgia was in 2004, during an attempt to save Aslan Abashidze. This visit was both inappropriate and unsuccessful for the then Secretary General, Walter Schwimmer. Generally, it is typical for the Secretaries General of the Council of Europe to demonstrate corruption toward dictators; in fact, one of them reportedly received a plot of land in the Moscow region for free,” he stated.
