Ex-President Saakashvili: Abolishing daylight saving time benefited Georgian health and tourism
“Few people are aware, but in 2005, when I was determined to swiftly develop Georgia’s tourism sector, I decided to abolish daylight saving time, meaning there was no longer a need to move the clock forward by one hour. This move not only improved the health of Georgians but also made it significantly easier for European and Ukrainian tourists to navigate Georgia during the summer months,” former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili shared on social media.
Saakashvili pointed out that Georgian Dream cannot make such decisions.
“For instance, after the Europeans moved their clocks forward yesterday, the time difference between Europe and us is now only two hours. Meanwhile, Georgia still shares just a one-hour difference with Ukraine. It may seem like a small detail, but the fact remains, such decisions are beyond the reach of the Georgian Dream,” wrote Mikheil Saakashvili.
