Ex-President addresses increased costs, security concerns during trial

The trial of Georgian ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili, accused of embezzling nine million from the state budget, is ongoing in the Tbilisi City Court. Saakashvili participated via a video link from the Vivamed Clinic and exploited this opportunity to discuss various issues.

He highlighted the increased costs of household products in Georgia, criticizing the allocation of state funds for non-essential purposes.

Saakashvili raised concerns about potential threats to the country, claiming that a subversive group had entered Georgia. He suggested the creation of a Civil Defense hotline for monitoring and reporting anti-Georgian activities.

The former president emphasized the need for coordination with partners, civil society, and the public to address challenges.

However, Judge Badri Kochlamazashvili interrupted Saakashvili’s speech, reminding him to stay within the scope of the case, which the defendant did not obey.
