Everyone who views themselves as a friend of Georgian people should be focused on not supporting radical agenda, Parliament Speaker says

“Everyone who views themselves as a friend of the Georgian people should be focused on not supporting the radical agenda – giving the platform to radical organizations, which renews and turns radicalism into a norm, thus affecting the Georgian people,” the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated at today’s Plenary Session.

Shalva Papuashvili responded to the statements of his opponents and once again explained why he is not attending the international conference in Tbilisi.

“Let me reiterate what I said yesterday: depolarization is one of the 12 goals we must accomplish, and it is largely the result of the opposition’s radicalization. In light of this, I believe that everyone who views themselves as a friend of the Georgian people should be focused on not supporting the radical agenda – giving the platform to radical organizations, which renews and turns radicalism into a norm, thus affecting the Georgian people. You are aware that there are representatives of radical political groups at this conference, including on the panel, who have thrown out the mandates of the Parliament, continue to deny its legitimacy, continue to call for regime change, and who are pleading with you to do the same. This is a typical radical agenda and gives radical groups a platform and a chance to voice their intentions. As the Chairman of the Parliament, it is my duty to the Georgian people not to support the radical agenda, which is why I chose not to attend the conference”, the Speaker stated.
