Foreign Ministers of Austria, Romania and Lithuania met Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
According to the press service of the Georgian Governmental Administration, Alexander Schallenberg, Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, Lithuanian FM Gabrielius Landsbergis, Romanian FM Bogdan Aurescu and PM Garibashvili accentuated the significance of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.
EU’s three FMs welcomed the recently reached Armenia-Azerbaijan agreement with the Georgian PM’s active facilitation and US involvement through which 15 Armenian citizens were released in exchange to a map on mined territories.
PM Garibashvili noted that Georgia was a leading country in Eastern Partnership being on a path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
He accentuated on the significance of more efficiency of the Geneva International Discussions for peaceful resolution of conflicts and in release of the unlawfully detained and imprisoned Georgian citizens by the occupied regime.
According to the PM, Georgia’s strategic partners, the EU and US, would be involved in elaboration of the government’s strategy for de-occupation and peaceful resolution of territorial conflicts.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, mandated EU three foreign ministers’ visit to the South Caucasus region on June 25-26.
