EU Integration Committee Chair says opposition parties to classify as radical forces if they reject to run in elections
“Opposition parties will be officially classified as radical forces if they decline to participate in the elections,” said Levan Makhashvili, the European Integration Committee Chair.
According to Makhashvili, should a party refuse to engage in elections, it will lack the defining characteristics of a political party.
“If opposition parties choose not to participate in elections, it will indicate their formal transformation into radical parties, as the fundamental purpose of a political party is to seek power through electoral means. Should a party refuse to engage in this process, it will lack the defining characteristic of a political party. Consequently, opposition parties will be officially classified as radical forces if they decline to participate in the elections,” he told the GPB’s First Channel.
