EU Integration Committee Chair: It is unjust for strong states to oppress weak over Georgia’s democratic choices
“It is unjust for some states—shielded by powerful European institutions—to oppress those who are weaker simply because they dislike the choices made by the Georgian population,” remarked Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the Parliament’s European Integration Committee.
Makhashvili expressed his thoughts on the resolution adopted by the Council of Europe, characterizing it as trivial.
“It is both frivolous and unfair to witness how certain states, positioned relatively strongly due to their protection by influential European institutions, can impose their will on the weak. For what reason? Because they disagree with the decisions made by the Georgian people. For us, the choice of our citizens is a red line; as long as these forces cast doubt on this fundamental issue, discussions on any other topic become trivial,” he asserted.
