Estonian PM: Russia’s use of force aimed to derail Georgia from path of democratic development

Russia’s use of force 13 years ago aimed to derail Georgia from path of democratic development, said Kaja Kallas, Prime Minister of Estonia in a Twitter post.

“13 years ago Russia used force in Europe. The purpose was to derail Georgia from the path of democratic development.

Georgia’s territorial integrity continues to be violated by Russia to this day. We must continue pressure, never forget and not to recognize this occupation,” Estonian PM tweeted.

Thirteen years passed after the August 2008 Russia-Georgia military hostilities. Russia recognized independence of Georgia’s regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia soon after the war. It continues non-fulfillment of the ceasefire agreement.
