Estonia FM: Masks are off GD; what we see is not what Georgian people want
The masks face fallen off the Georgian Dream of the Georgian government, whatever we call them, and it was pretty obvious already a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, after the elections, everything what we see is not actually what Georgian people want,” Margus Tsahkna, Foreign Minister of Estonia said in an interview with CNN.
Estonian FM underscored in the interview that violence is not acceptable. He went on to say that three Baltic States imposed sanctions against those “who are responsible for violence against peaceful people.”
According to Margus Tsahkna, the GD leaders are deceiving the EU and Georgian people by saying that the government continues the EU integration process.
“Georgian people have a legitimate leader as their President. Of course, the Georgian Dream is going to change their president, but the President is a legitimate leader supported by the Georgian people, and we need to take her words very seriously.
Accusations that behind mass rallies, and demonstrations are some political movements, are not true. These are Georgian people and these demonstrations are not only taking place in Tbilisi but all over Georgia. So, 80% of Georgian people support the way towards the European Union.
The Georgian Dream leaders and the Prime Minister are just lying to the EU, and what is more important, they have been lying to the Georgian people for a long period and this is the reaction that we see. The EU halted this process a couple of months ago but the situation what we see on the streets is really concerning,” he said.
