Environment Agency predicts heatwave this week

The National Environment Agency predicts a rise in air temperature across Georgia, leading to a heatwave during the current week.

The anticipated high temperatures create favourable conditions for intensifying various processes, including forest fires and glacier melting.

“On certain days, the air temperature in Western Georgia lowlands could rise to 37-39°C, while in the eastern regions, it may reach 39-41°C. In mountainous areas, daytime temperatures could reach 33-38°C, going up to 28-33°C at higher mountains. High temperatures create conditions for heat stress, forest fires and glacier melting,” the Agency states.
