Elizabeth Rood: Measures taken by Russia in recent past are unfair, unnecessary and disproportionate

Acting US Ambassador to Georgia Elizabeth Rood states that measures that Russia has taken against Georgia in the recent past are unfair, unnecessary and disproportionate.

At the same time, the acting ambassador focused on the checkpoints which were closed at the administrative boundary line and assessed it as a serious problem.

“The measures taken by Russia in the recent past – in particular, the ban on flights to Georgia, the calls for their citizens not to arrive in Georgia, are unfair, unnecessary and disproportionate. However, I would like to pay special attention to the closure of the checkpoints on the administrative line. This is a serious problem and challenge, as it further complicates the humanitarian situation for the population on both sides, and limits their movement”, – Elizabeth Rood said.
