Efficiency Department: State procurement authority and new digital market research module's launch underway
“The Georgian government is undertaking significant reforms in the realm of state procurement. As part of this effort, a new State Procurement Authority is being established, which will oversee both consolidated tenders and individual procurement cases,” stated Guram Dumbadze, Head of the Efficiency Department of the Government of Georgia.
Dumbadze further explained that the State Procurement Authority is projected to manage approximately two billion GEL worth of purchases annually, with its staff comprising individuals with relevant expertise and competence.
“The new approach ensures that, for each procurement, the state will adopt a unified and standardised methodology, which will substantially enhance the management and transparency of public procurement processes.
Additionally, a new digital market research module has already been launched. This innovative platform will facilitate comprehensive market research conducted entirely online, engaging around 40,000 economic operators and up to 5,000 purchasing organisations.
Everyone will have the opportunity to participate in these market research procedures, as notifications are sent digitally to 40,000 economic operators. They can then submit specific price offers and detailed requirements for relevant procurements, further improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire market research process,” Guram Dumbadze concluded.
