Education Minister discusses enhancing collaboration with U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs

The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, met with Darren Beattie, Director of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, in Washington.

The officials explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the field of education and discussed the implementation of joint programmes.

Minister Mikanadze briefed Darren Beattie on ongoing reforms within Georgia’s education system and outlined forthcoming initiatives.

The conversation also covered the Fulbright Program and support for its expansion. It was recognised that the programme offers Georgian students a valuable opportunity to access high-quality education and use their knowledge to contribute to the development of their homeland.

The importance of collaboration between Georgian and American universities, including joint double degree programmes, was emphasised. According to the Minister, such initiatives are particularly vital for enhancing human capital and strengthening Georgia’s workforce.

According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, both parties expressed their commitment to deepening their partnership at the conclusion of the meeting. The Georgian Ambassador to the United States, Tamar Taliashvili, was also present.
