Economy Minister stresses Middle Corridor’s growing importance in talks with Singapore’s Transport Minister

Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with Singapore’s Minister of Transport, Jeffrey Siow, on the sidelines of the UN International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Assembly in London, the Ministry of Economy reported.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the ministers discussed prospects for cooperation in the transport sector, including maritime connections. Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani also attended the meeting.

Key topics included strengthening regional connectivity and exploring new opportunities for collaboration. Kvrivishvili highlighted the significance of the Middle Corridor for trade and economic integration, outlining Georgia’s role and progress in developing this strategic route.

“We had an interesting meeting with the Minister of Transport of Singapore. We discussed cooperation opportunities in the transport field, including civil aviation, and the possibility of direct flights between Georgia and Singapore. I am pleased that both sides are ready to work together in other important areas as well—such as transport logistics, port management, digitalisation of the maritime sector, and security systems,” said Kvrivishvili.

She also spoke about Georgia’s major infrastructure projects, including the Anaklia Deepwater Port, the new Vaziani International Airport, and the ongoing railway modernisation. According to the ministry, the development of modern transport and logistics infrastructure will help further strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries.
