Economy Minister meets Trade Minister of Turkiye

Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the Trade Minister of Turkiye, Ömer Bolat, who is visiting Georgia.

Top priorities of bilateral trade-economic relations and cooperation intensification prospects in free trade, civil aviation, tourism and other spheres were reviewed during the meeting.

“We set new plans and joint programs that will contribute to the development of the economy, as well as to the interconnection of representatives of the private sectors operating in our countries and the expansion of their business activities,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili.

The ministers positively assessed cooperation between Georgia and Turkiye in the investment and tourism spheres. Mariam Kvrivishvili noted that Turkiye is the third-largest investor in Georgia, with more than 2,700 companies operating under Turkish investments. She highlighted that Turkiye ranks as the second-highest source of visitors to Georgia, and Turkish airlines operate a total of 101 flights from Georgian airports.

“The parties agreed that they will make additional efforts to make cooperation between Georgian and Turkish business circles even stronger and fruitful,” the Ministry of Economy said.

The Georgian Minister reminded that the Georgia-Turkiye intergovernmental economic commission meeting was scheduled for July 31, chaired by Mariam Kvrivishvili. She also invited the Trade Minister to the October 22-23 Silk Road Forum.
