Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with the Acting US Ambassador to Georgia, Alan Purcell, to discuss priority areas of cooperation between the two countries, the Ministry of Economy announced.
According to the Ministry, the talks focused on strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership. The Georgian side expressed its interest in “resetting relations with the US and restoring strategic cooperation.”
Kvrivishvili underlined the importance of US-led peace initiatives, including the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement brokered during President Trump’s administration, noting that it had created new opportunities for development in the South Caucasus. She emphasized that maintaining regional peace and security remains a top priority for the Georgian government.
The meeting also covered a broad range of economic issues, including bilateral trade, investment, and transport. Both sides highlighted the strategic role of Georgia in regional transit projects, particularly in the development of the Middle Corridor as a safe and efficient route linking Europe and Asia. The Minister briefed the Ambassador on infrastructure projects being implemented under this framework to boost Georgia’s competitiveness.
It was noted that trade turnover between Georgia and the US continues to grow, reaching $1.6 billion in January–July 2025.
Deputy Minister of Economy Genadi Arveladze also attended the meeting.
